PATHOGENCITY

1)      Major it causes the urinary tract infection.
2)      Gastroenteritis
3)      In infants it causes the Meningitis.
4)      Diarrhea caused by the following group of E.Coli:
a.       Traveller’s diarrhea                                               (Enterotoxigenic E.coli (ETEC)
b.      Dysentery                                                             (Enteroinvasive E.coli (EIEC)
c.       Infantile diarrhea                                                 (Enteropathogenic E.coli (EPEC)
d.      Haemolytic uraemic syndrome in children           (EnterohaemorrhagicE.coli(EHEC,
0157: H7)
e.       Diarrhea                                                                (Diffuse adherent E.coli (DAEC)
f.       Chronic diarrhea                                                (Enteroaggregative E.coli (EAggEC)
g.      Diarrhea                                                                (Diffuse adherent aggregative-adherent      
E.coli(DAAA)


They are all diagnose and identified by production of agglutination with commercially available Antisera.(Monica2000)
