1-      The Kaufmanns-white system.( in this system each serotype is indicated as individual species.

2-      The Edwards-Ewing system: (according to this system salmonella is devided into 3 species.

a.      S.choleraesuis

b.      S.enteritidis

c.       S.typhi

3-      a DNA hybridization scheme:

4-      according to this system Salmonella divided into two species

a.      S.enteritidis

b.      S.bongori

·         S.enteritidis subdivided into following subspecies,

 arizonae, diarizonae, enterica, houtanae, indica and salamae

Ø  S.enterica  have more than 2500 serotypes. Which are differentiated on the base of “O” and “H” antigen.some types are as follow.

·         Salmonella serotype (Serovar) Typhimurium

·         Salmonella serotype Enteritidis

·         Salmonella serotype Typhi

·         Salmonella serotype Paratyphi

·         Salmonella serotype Cholerae suis etc (Monica2000)
